Suggested Content For TET Examination at Secondary and Senior Secondary Level by NCTE 


Secondary Level:-


1. Teaching Learning at secondary stage – 40 questions / 40 marks

* Understanding adolescence: aspects of cognitive, physical social and emotional development; individual differences, creativity and multiple intelligence.

* Fundamentals of teaching and learning: application of theories of learning as appropriate for the secondary level; dealing with diverse needs of learning; use of various sources of learning; approaches for enhancing learning.

* Action Research and case studies.

* Current issues and developments in the field of education: critical perspectives of quality in Secondary Education; education of the first generation school goers; inclusive education; socially disadvantaged groups; international understanding; understanding of child rights; information Communication Technology (ICT) and its educational implication.

* teacher aptitude and attitude relating to the needs and concerns of the learner; cooperation & collaboration with peers and principals.  


2. Language 1 and 2 – (20+20= 40 question) (20+20=40 marks) 


This section will test proficiency of candidates in two languages to be used as medium of instruction. Candidates will choose two languages(any two out of the list provided by the examining body). The question papers for both will be set at the Class- X level. The test will cover reading comprehension (one passage not exceeding 300 words), vocabulary and language usage.


3. Educational Assessment – 20 question/ 20 marks

* The section would cover procedures and techniques of assessment relevant to different dimension of learning; continuous and comprehensive evaluation; process and product evaluation, assessment as learning techniques of different kinds, their uses; recording, analysis and reporting of result for feedback and improvement of quality.

4. Content and Pedagogy of  School Subject – (40+40 questions/40+40 marks)

* The test will focus on expected subject competencies pertaining to the classes IX-X with special reference to and implications for teaching at the secondary level. The weightage of content and pedagogy will be kept in the ratio of 60:40. Questions will be set on pedagogical analysis of the content. Emphasis will be on testing of concepts, reflections, reasoning and application. Important aspects/topics of the subject may be given sufficient weightage. Questions straight from the textbook and those merely testing memory/recall should be avoided. the test items should also be free from urban/gender bias.

Senior Secondary Level:- 



1. Teaching Learning at secondary stage – 50 questions / 50 marks

* Understanding adolescence: aspects of cognitive, physical social and emotional development; individual differences, creativity and multiple intelligence.

* Fundamentals of teaching and learning: application of theories of learning as appropriate for the  Senior secondary level; dealing with diverse needs of learning; use of various sources of learning; approaches for enhancing learning; learning as a socio-cultural concept; cooperative and participative learning.

* Action Research and case studies.

* Current issues and developments in the field of education: critical perspectives of quality in Secondary Education; education of the first generation school goers; inclusive education; socially disadvantaged groups; international understanding; understanding of child rights; information Communication Technology (ICT) and its educational implication.

* teacher aptitude and attitude relating to the needs and concerns of the learner; cooperation & collaboration with peers and principals.

The weightage of content and pedagogy will be kept in the ratio of 60:40. Questions will be set on pedagogical analysis of the content. Emphasis will be on testing of concepts, reflections, reasoning and application. Important aspects/topics of the subject may be given sufficient weightage.
